Programming
CROSS includes four phases spanning six months. During this period, participants are either involved in Aggression Replacement Training (ART) or gang specific Cognitive Behavioral Training (CBT), weekly. Participants meet with their case manager individually, twice a week, to address underlying needs which lead to their gang activity. Case managers help participants find alternative ways to meet those needs other than gang membership or crime. Individual and family therapy is also provided for all participants involved in the program. CROSS includes the famliy to develop environmental control strategies to decrease risk factors in the home.
In addition, CROSS coordinators conduct weekly school visits to ensure participants are attending classes and achieving academic success. Coordinators provide support and information to assist participants in meeting court obligations and goals, as well as pursuing personal interests, and community involvement. Successful completion of CROSS is accomplished by meeting all required program and court obligations.
